Spicy Avocado Dip is a quick (26) minute recipe for a creamy, Tex-Mex style appetizer which uses pita chips for dipping. The only cooking will be for the pita chips. Ingredients Include: Avocado, pita bread, green peas, cilantro and lime juice. It is well-seasoned with cumin, chile powder, cayenne pepper and salt. This is also a healthy, low calories, low fat, low cholesterol, low sodium, low sugars, diabetic-friendly, heart-healthy and Weight Watchers (4 SmartPoints, (4 PointsPlus) recipe. Makes: (6) servings. Spicy Avocado Dip will be loved by all of your family, friends and guests.

Prep Time: About 20 Minutes.
Cooking Time: 6 Minutes.

INGREDIENTS:

1-1/2 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp ancho chile powder
1/4 tsp kosher salt
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
3 (6″) whole-grain pitas, split
Cooking spray
1 cup frozen green peas, thawed
3 Tbsp water
1 Tbsp lime juice
1 large ripe avocado, peeled, halved, pitted
2 Tbsp fresh cilantro leaves

DIRECTIONS:

1. Preheat oven to 350° F.

2. Combine cumin, anch chile powder, salt, and cayenne pepper in a bowl. Split each pita in half to make 6 rounds.

3. Cut each pita round into 6 wedges. Spread wedges in single layers on 2 large baking sheets. Lightly coat pita with cooking spray; sprinkle evenly with half of cumin mixture. Bake in the preheated oven for 6 minutes or until crisp. Cool completely on pans.

4. Combine peas, water, lime juice, and remaining cumin mixture in the bowl of a food processor; process until smooth. Add in avocado and pulse until combined. Top with cilantro.

Yield: 6 Servings.
